PF Centro Slab Press is a modern font family that is a version of the great Centro Slab. The latter was released in 2006 and became an instant success, winning several awards with Gold Award from the European Design Awards 2008 and an Excellence Award from the International Type Design Competition 2009 among them. Centro Slab is still in high demand, especially when it comes to branding, corporate applications and print media. This prompted Panos Vassiliou – the typeface designer, to redesign it releasing another version of it – one that will be more suitable for magazine and newspaper publications as well as web applications. As you can imagine, the newer version – PF Centro Slab Press is a robust font family that offers extreme legibility, which is achieved mainly through narrower proportions and a very skillful use of the serifs.

PF Centro Slab Press family includes 16 fonts in 8 weights – Extra Thin, Thin, Light, Regular, Medium, Bold, Black and Ultra Black with their Italics. A scrutiny of the fonts and weights will show a lot of positives with two things immediately catching attention – the Italics being narrower than Romans and the fact that the great readability is maintained even in the heavier weights. There are 659 glyphs per font with plenty of OpenType features supplied too, like Standard Ligatures, Lining Figures, Oldstyle Figures, Proportional Figures, Tabular Figures, etc. There are more than 100 languages covered with support for Latin, Cyrillic, Greek, Eastern European, Turkish and Baltic.
