Foral Pro by Rui Abreu is a modern Slab Serif typeface characteristic with its substantial ink traps and short serifs that make it look quite balanced and symmetrical. It is created specifically for use in text, title and caption sizes. To better understand the nature of this typeface family may be we should look to the story behind its name. Foral is a Portuguese word for royal documents of the past regulating different rights. The font’s author decided to use the name in order to underline the bureaucratic essence of the typeface.

Foral Pro comes in eight weights – Foral Pro Light, Foral Pro, Foral Pro Bold and Foral Pro ExtraBold – each with its Italics and extras such as discretional ligatures, different figure styles, small caps and superscript letters, providing better choices and expanding the range of the possible applications.

Foral Pro font family is designed by the Portuguese type designer Rui Abreu and published by his own type foundry under the same name. After his graduation from Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade do Porto in 2003 he created some very interesting fonts such as: Orbe Pro font, Signo font, Aria Text font, Grafolita Script font.
