Bodoni Sans font
Bodoni Sans font designed by the Canadian type designer Jason Vandenberg is an intriguing interpretation of the fundamental typography classic font Bodoni. The Rational Serifs like Didot and Bodoni are doyens among the fashion typefaces exuding elegance and refinement. Extreme stroke contrast, flat serifs, ball terminals, fine curves, and delicate horizontal lines are their key typography characteristics. These Modern Serifs and the contemporary trend of imposing Sans-Serifs as a new fashion standard have inspired Jason Vandenberg to move Bodoni forward putting it in a new context.
As a result Bodoni Sans font family is not merely a Serif-less Bodoni. The new typeface family still maintains the high stroke contrast, elegant curves, classical proportions of the capitals and x-heights. The letterforms are rebalanced for use without serifs. Special attention is paid to maintaining the stroke contrast over a wide range of sizes. That’s why three optical sizes were drawn: Standard, Display and Text for use in the size ranges of 12 to 60 pt, 48 pt and above, and 6 to 12 pt, respectively. The lettering curves are redrawn and optimized for ultimate performance both for digital/web and printed media.
In brief, Bodoni Sans type family looks classy and stylish just like its prominent predecessor, being fresh, versatile and advanced at the same time. It comes in 8 weights (from Light to Black) with their italics, plus extended character set, and standard OpenType features.
