Ladislav font is a homage to the work of Ladislav Sutnar*.
The Ladislav font brings to life Sutnar’s heritage not by copying any of his original fonts, but by obeying the initial principles of character creation. The simple modular system of combined geometrical segments is followed in the creation of all round shapes of capital and lowercase letters, and the majority of numbers.
The Ladislav type family consists of font styles, derived from four basic weights (Light to Bold). Apart from traditional italics, Ladislav also contains atypical, left-inclining italics – completely redrawn, for natural look and harmony with the other styles in all weights.
*Ladislav Sutnar (1897—1976) was one of the most prominent pioneers of modern graphic and visual art. He worked on graphic design of books and magazines, advertising graphics, product catalogues, visual styles and orientation systems, but he also designed wooden toys and puppets, engaged himself in scenography, drinking glassware and porcelain creation.
