Paintlay typeface is the latest release by the Finnish designer Mika Melvas. With it he once again proves that he is a real expert in brush lettering – something he already demonstrated two month ago with his Sivellin font family. This time he presents us with another very impressive script that is as easygoing and friendly as it gets. Among the most distinctive features of this connected display font are its upright strokes, soft letterforms and beautiful strokes. However, the greatest and most standout characteristic is the fact that it is layer based. There are several layers included – the Base one that can be used as a regular font or together with two Shadow and two Highlight ones. The layers are masterfully crafted and will give great opportunity to mix and combine them in order for the best and most desired variant to be achieved. But for even better results different colors could be added which will add unmatched personality to any project and has the potential to turn it in a real colorful fairy-scene. If you decide to undertake such an adventure, you will certainly be aided by the OpenType features provided like standard and discretionary ligatures and alternates.
