Ruth Script typeface – the flash of the neon light
“When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light, that split the night…” Well, these lyrics from the immortal song “The Sound of Silence” of Simon and Garfunkel immediately spring to mind when one lays his eyes on the new Ruth Script designed by the Colombian designer Felipe Calderón. We cannot but think about the neon signs that dominate the contemporary urban environment, as the script’s letterforms seem to be perfect for such use. Of course, this is no coincidence as the typeface is inspired by those signs and is intended for such an application. It is obvious that Ruth Script is drawn with a lot of passion, love and professionalism. Per example the connections, that are essential in this case, are masterfully crafted and follow the best traditions. There is also another great advantage, as the font offers plenty of alternatives that will allow the users to combine the words to their taste and liking.
When we discuss the pros of the Ruth Script, we should point out that there is a lot more about it than the functionality. In terms of aesthetics this font doesn’t leave much to be desired. In fact, one of Ruth’s great merits is that it somewhat of a link that connects the modern needs of the digital typography with the everlasting beauty and elegance of the brush calligraphy. It is evident that the thorough research of plenty of books, guides and videos, conducted by the author, has paid off.
Ruth Script typeface is the latest release by Felipe Calderón, following Trendy font family and the award winning Hollie Script Pro. Once again it is published under the label of his Estudio Calderon type foundry. For more of his work, please follow the links:
