Remsen Script font by Three Islands Press (“3IP”) is a digital interpretation of the 18th century penman Remsen’s cursive. Remsen’s merit was that he commemorated with his neat and beautiful handwriting a document from the beginning of the American colonists fight for independence and the birth of the United States of America. After The Boston Tea Party and before the Battles of Lexington and Concord, a group of Philadelphia merchants made one last-ditch call for commercial cooperation across the Atlantic. This futile appeal survives to this day on a three-page broadside, finely engrossed by the penman Remsen and passed down through the generations of his family.

Remsen Script with its formal and stylish presence, keeping the subtle unevenness and gently ragged strokes laid by the penman’s hand, is a perfect choice for luxury packaging design, event announcements, or any other kind of vintage-looking layouts. Remsen Script font comes with a pretty decent load of OpenType features including alternate uppercase styles, scores of authentic ligatures, discretionary and contextual alternates, lining and old-style figures, ink blots, a few ornaments, and complete Central/Eastern European alphabets – 1,000 glyphs in all.

Three Islands Press (a.k.a. “3IP”) is a US small independent type foundry based in Rockport, Maine, and founded by the Texas ex-journalist and present type designer Brian Willson. 3IP is famous for its library of authentic-looking handwriting fonts, many of them modelled after historical penmanship, and antique text simulations.
