Aldo Pro is a contemporary font family designed by the Luxembourg based designer Sacha Rein. This is his debut project on our site and we hope that it will be followed by many more. Sacha Rein is a graduate of ERG – Ecole de Recherche Graphique in Brussels, Belgium, and has ever since worked in the fields of typography and graphic design. Currently he is a partner in Taste design agency which is specialized in individual projects closely connected to and focused on corporate identity.

Sacha Rein’s latest typographic release – Aldo Pro font family is a descendant of his very successful Aldo typeface. Named after the prominent US environmentalist and a fundamental figure in the field of the wildlife management Aldo Leopold, Aldo is a free font that was published back in 2007 and so far has around 700,000 downloads. Now based on the feedback, Sacha Rein has done some amendments and corrections to it that turned to a whole new typeface. Those include the more classical shape of the X glyphs, the reduced x-heights and the addition of ligatures. As a result, Aldo Pro is less condensed than Aldo and sports better legibility which allows it to be used in longer texts. There are 8 weights provided – Hairline, Thin, Light, Book, Regular, Medium, Bold and Black, each containing 690 glyphs and useful features like discretionary and standard ligatures and extended language support. Overall, Aldo Pro font’s characteristics and elegant appearance make it great for any kind of typographic projects on all paper, screen and mobile devices.
