Congenial font family is a modern typeface that is the latest release by the very successful US designer Laura Worthington. In fact, the idea behind it was for her to create a typeface for her website that was to be a companion to her decorative calligraphic fonts. However, there are still plenty of hand drawn elements included as Laura has always been faithful to this style. These are more visible in the heavier weights but can be felt in the lighter ones too. All in all, the result is a highly readable typeface with a pronounced humanist tendency and very friendly and casual appearance. These effects are achieved by using softer letterforms, swelling diagonal strokes, flared terminals, large x-heights, gentler curves etc. As a result Congenial flows evenly and effortlessly and great comfort which makes it perfect for many different applications like headlines, logos, magazine covers, posters, packaging, branding etc.

Congenial font family is large enough to suit any taste as it comes in 10 different weights: Hairline, Ultra Light, Thin, Extra Light, Light, Regular, Medium, Bold, Heavy, Black with 413 characters per weight. A handful of OpenType features are provided too such as swashes, alternates and ornaments.

Congenial font family is another high quality release by Laura Worthington. Her work is held in high regard and quite naturally three of her typefaces (Alana, Hummingbird, and Samantha) have received Awards of Excellence from Communication Arts. Here are even more of her wonderful projects:

Spumante
Boucherie
Adorn
Charcuterie
