Encorpada Essential font
Encorpada Essential font by dooType is the last addition to a big project which aim is to create a big family of OpenType feature typefaces. It all started in 2011 when first family member – Encorpada Black was released. It featured only black weight and basic characters with rounded serifs and decorative ink-traps. This typeface was very well received and was soon followed by Encorpada Pro. It appeared in June 2012 and was inspired by Didone shapes like the strong contrast between thick and thin lines, thick vertical parts of letters etc. It also has 14 weights (seven italics and seven upright) with many OpenType features and supported more than 40 languages with its larger character set which meant that it was a huge step forward in the Encorpada project.
A year later another step was made as Encorpada Classic font was introduced. This typeface employs the best characteristics of Didone genre but with more modern 21st century appearance. Compared to its predecessors, it lacks the rounded serifs (as it features more standard ones) and ink-traps. Many smooth details were added with the main idea to add more elegance and grace to the family.
Now, in 2014 the latest part of the Encorpada project is being released – Encorpada Essential font. Graphically it is identical to its Encorpada Pro predecessor but it has the basic set of OpenType features and less glyphs. It is obvious that it accentuates on characteristics that are considered to be the most important and is best suited for projects where an extensive choice of opentype features is not needed.
All in all, Encorpada Essential font is another welcomed step forward in the development of Encorpada project. We can’t wait to understand what the next one will be!
