Filmotype Hickory font
Filmotype Hickory font by Patrick Griffin (Filmotype foundry) is a digital rebirth of the eponymous 1955 Filmotype font. The original Filmotype Hickory typeface was created as a continuation of the popular Filmotype Honey font after customer demand for a bolder face. It’s a thick upright hand drawn pen script with strong personality, natural flow, and good legibility. Filmotype Hickory font with its stylish appearance is perfect for display purposes.
Filmotype Hickory typeface was developed from the original font filmstrips enriched with the contemporary digital goodies such us multilingual character sets and a plenty of OpenType functions: alternate characters and ligatures, automatic fractions, ordinals, etc.
Originally Filmotype are renowned for inventing the first portable typesetting system and creating an exhaustive library of display typefaces created for it (Filmotype was the creator of the 2″ filmstrip photo font). Their amazing photo film alphabet collection legacy was reborn and is being digitized to provide the modern generation of type designers with amazing treasure of digital fonts.
Patrick Griffin is Canadian type designer, founder of the Canada Type, currently the most successful type foundry in that part of the world.
