Galano Classic is a new type family designed by the author of the Galano Grotesque typeface Rene Bieder. It was intended to be its display version but in the process of its creation grew to something bigger – an easily readable font that work quite well both in large and small text sizes. But in order to best present the font family we think it is most proper to compare it with its predecessor. First of all, whereas both font families derive their inspiration from the examples of the past, Classic is much more connected to them with its letterforms being very traditional. Other more notable differences between the two typefaces include the bigger number of the ligatures of Classic, its redesigned and adjusted glyphs and the more alternate characters.
There are some things about Galano Classic type family that deserve special mention. 10 different weights are provided – from Thin to Black each with its respective Italics. Every font has 555 glyphs. The designer has provided additional Alt versions of each weight for situations when OpenType features are not accessible. And there is a special extra included – Regular DEMO, Alt Regular DEMO, Bold DEMO and Alt Bold DEMO are free for testing.
Galano Classic is designed and released by Rene Bieder. It is another example of what he does best – a highly legible geometric font family. May be the reason of his success is that he is multitalented. He has come a long way from advertising and graphic design to the type design.
