Galea Display by Isabel Urbina-Peña (Letra Type foundry) is a narrow stylish high-contrast Serif with long ascenders and descenders. Its ‘El Greco’ proportions and curly terminals further contribute to the elegant, neat and gentle outlook. As you can guess from its name Galea Display was designed as a display typeface – perfect at large sizes for editorial purposes as titling, captions and sub-headings, etc.
Galea Display type family consists of three weights: Regular, Bold, and Black, plus one italic style. It comes with more than 260 glyphs, OpenType options such as Discretionary Ligatures, Kerning, Standard Ligatures, and multilingual support.
Galea Display is the first typeface designed by Isabel Urbina-Peña while at Cooper Type, a program in the Cooper Union, NYC, in Jesse Ragan’s class of Typeface design. It received an Honorable Mention from the Fine Press Book Association (FBPA) in the Text Family Category, 2013. Also, it is featured in the book ‘Playing with Type: 50 Graphic Experiments for Exploring Typographic Design Principles’ by Lara McCormick.
