Godfrey by Ludwig Type
Godfrey is a modern font family that is the latest release of the German designer Ludwig Übele. Once again he presents us with a perfect sans serif grotesque typeface that offers excellent legibility and could be used with a great result in the fields of advertising, corporate identity and design, branding, editorial design, web design, etc. Godfrey font is drawn using basic geometric forms like circular shapes and especially straight lines but with very careful consideration of the optics. It is exactly the unorthodox usage of the straight lines like in the descenders of the letters “f”, “j” and “y” that accounts for the typeface’s distinctive personality and rather clean and structured appearance. This also gives Godfrey font quite expressive industrial look and makes it a very solid and sturdy “workhorse”.
Godfrey family consists of 14 fonts distributed in 7 weights – Thin, Extra Light, Light, Regular, Medium, Bold and Black, all with their respective Italics. A great variety of OpenType features is provided too for those who have access to the compatible software needed – All Caps, Ligatures, Ordinals, Fractions, Alternates, Slashed Zero, Tabular Figures, Denominators and Numerator, Superiors and Inferiors, etc. For more information and to see the font in action, please visit this minisite.
