Itoya is a modern sans serif typeface that is created under the influence of both Japanese and Western philosophies and ideologies. It is a very interesting typeface that combines firstly the practical and precise approach of the Western civilization with the more expression orientated Japanese culture and, on the other hand, answers all the needs of the very dynamic contemporary age while at the same time hinting to the more spiritual and ethic traditions. Itoya font offers to the users geometric humanist appearance, very high legibility and great functionality that would make it work perfectly in posters, web applications, graphic novels, product design, fashion related items and many more.

Itoya font family comes in seven weights – from Ultra Light to Black with their respective Italics. Just like the famous Japanese seven samurais from the iconic Akira Kurosawa film they are quite different but, when combined, achieve marvelous results. Those weights consist of more than 600 characters each. A lot of OpenType features and extras are provided too like alternative lowercase letters, variations of numerals, manually edited kerning and ligatures.

Itoya font family is designed by the very prolific and successful British designer Jonathan Hill and is released by his The Northern Block type foundry. His works are among the most distinctive and well known on the modern market and include fonts like: Schar, Loew, Bitner, Gunar, Nauman.
