P22 Marcel font
P22 Marcel font by Carolyn Porter & P22 type foundry reveals a miraculous and heart-warming story. The P22 Marcel font family is named in honour of Marcel Heuzé, a Frenchman who was conscripted into labour during World War II. During the months Marcel was in Germany, he wrote letters to his beloved wife and daughters back home in rural France. Marcel’s letters contain rare first-person testimony of day-to-day survival within a labour camp, along with the most beautiful expressions of love and affection imaginable. The letters – were stained and scarred with censor marks – were found by an amazing stroke of fate at an antiques dealer in the northern American town of Stillwater, Minnesota by the graphic designer Carolyn Porter. She used the original source documents to create a script font that retains the expressive character of Marcel Heuzé’s original handwriting.
The result of years of research and design work, P22 Marcel font features more than 1300 glyphs. The font family consists of six fonts – Marcel Script, Marcel Script Pro, Marcel Caps, Marcel Ornaments, Marcel Euro Post One and Marcel Euro Post Two. The font is a highly readable running script that includes textural details that capture the look of ink on paper. P22 Marcel Caps font is a hand-lettered titling face intended as a companion to the Scripts. Marcel Ornaments font offers a bunch of refined decorative patterns to complement the exquisite hand-lettering. Marcel Euro Post One and Two fonts both feature more than 200 postmarks, cancellation and censor marks, and other embellishments found on historical letters and documents.
P22 Marcel font family provides a variety of OpenType features like ligatures, alternates, swashes and many more.
