Weitalic font family is the first typeface of the debuting Germany based designer Wilhelm Eckert. We are not sure if the name of the font is an acronym of the ‘W’, ‘E’ and the word ‘Italic’ but it sounds very good in German with own melody and specific vocal rhythm – probably a good introduction to the character of the whole family.

Weitalic font family is a humanist sans serif typeface intended for use in corporate and editorial design. Unlike most of the cases of large companies annual reports where we could often see long text paragraphs with 10 pt boring sans Weitalic is obviously having own temper and is definitely one of those families that really change the game.

It has strict and angular strokes, Fraktur style tails and very fine and elegant overall calligraphic look. Ranging in 8 separate weights from Extra Light to Heavy, Weitalic gives you enough contrast variations to fit every need you meet in your work. Additionally each of the Roman weights is equipped with corresponding Italics which gives you even more options for good combinations inside the family.

All in all Weitalic is a typeface designed with distinct purpose – good for strong and masculine headlines as well as for small-sized text paragraphs, Weitalic is one of the best choice families for editorial and corporate design where the perfect combination between legibility and originality is really highly appreciated. Weitalic is designed by Wilhelm Eckert. In 2012 in cooperation with other students from HAWK University Wilhelm was awarded with the prestigious Red Dot Award for the Total Steel Exhibition Catalog.
