Carpi Pro typeface is a modern geometric sans-serif designed by the German designer Felix Braden. In fact, this is another of his re-released typefaces after Sadness. Capri was first released by Peter Bruhn’s Fountain type, but after Peter’s sudden death and the foundry’s demise it has disappeared for years. Now Felix Braden breathes new life in it by publishing it again and sharing this elegant beauty with us once again.
Capri Pro font family comes in 4 weights – Light, Regular, Bold and Italic. As for its appearance – it is evident that Felix Braden was as close to the geometric concept as possible as the typeface’s letterforms are constructed upon basic forms such as triangles, squares and circles. However, the font does have enough unique features of its own that determine his contemporary industrial look. These are, per example, the sharp edges and the pointed angles, the contrast in the length of the short ascenders and descenders and the taller x-heights, the specific width of the lowercase and uppercase letters, etc. But we feel that the landmark feature of Capri Pro are the distinctive diagonals that make the letters “g”, “y” and especially “e” look very prominent. The influence of those diagonals on the overall appearance of the font is even more visible in the Italic version. All in all, Capri is highly legible and quite elegant, while being somehow cold and distant the way the vast wilderness of the Arctic is. The font family will find many suitable applications like headlines, shorter texts, advertising, fashion related items, editorial design, corporate identity, etc.
