Henderson Slab is a modern slab serif font family that is based on a number of bold caps, drawn by the Belgian diplomate, politician and man of letters Albert Du Bois, published in the 1906 Henderson Sign Painter book. Those letters were a perfect example of how the slabs were incorporated in the sign painting in the post-industrial revolution era. It was enough to prompt Alejandro Paul – the Henderson Slab designer, to make a thorough research and finally to come up with a very intriguing font family of his own- one that conveys the feeling of the beginning of 20-th century in the beginning of the 21-st.

Henderson Slab font family is very interesting with the fact that it comprises all the history of the slab serifs in the last century – from the manual humanist origins thru the swashed forms of the phototypesetting period to the alternates of the modern digital era. The family includes two variants with seven weights each – Thin, Extra Light, Light, Regular, Semi Bold, Bold and Black. There is also an Italic version of each weight. There are 601 glyphs in every style, as well as the usual alternates, swashes, OpenType features and extended language support. All of these make Henderson Slab font perfect for many applications – corporate or editorial, both in text or display.

Henderson Slab is the latest typeface designed by the famous Argentine designer Alejandro Paul and released by his Sudtipos type foundry. It is very closely related to the recently published Henderson Sans font family. For more of Ale Paul’s extraordinary work, please follow these links:
