Komet Pro is a contemporary font family that is inspired by the classical humanist English sans serifs. However, it is just loosely based on them as it relies on much more modern and solid appearance. To achieve that, type designer Jan Fromm, used different means like low contrast, subtle stress angles, curved diagonals, sloped extenders, wider counters of some letters, heavier dots, etc. Overall, Komet Pro’s appearance is rather clean and sturdy which makes it a very reliable choice for wide range of applications especially in the fields of branding as well as editorial and corporate design.

When speaking about Komet Pro, it is important to understand that this font family is created specifically for professional designers. To answer their needs, this typeface offers a lot of different choices for all kinds of typographical tasks, including most ambitious ones. Firstly, it comes in 8 weights – from Thin to Black, each with its corresponding Italics. The vigorous and expressive thinner and darker ones are perfect for headlines, whereas the middle ones are quite suitable for body text. Secondly, each font has more than 850 glyphs including a bounty of OpenType features and extras – stylistic alternates, small caps, arrows, ligatures, fractions, super- and subscript as well as ten various figure sets.

Komet Pro is designed by the German designer Jan Fromm. A graduate from the University of Applied Science – Potsdam in the field of communication design, Jan has been working as a freelancer since 2003, gaining significant experience in the process. Apart from the type design, his other interests include illustration, web and screen based projects, corporate design.
