Herschel typeface is a modern font family the roots of which are deeply planted in the late 19th century and more precisely in the so called Gilded Age. In fact this typeface is like an ambassador of that age, as it perfectly conveys its spirit into the modern times. At the same time, Herschel has all it takes to answer to all of the demands of the contemporary digital era. Drawn with great attention to detail, this elegant old-fashioned font family evokes feelings of nostalgia and melancholy. This is mostly due to its unique flared serifs that give Herschel his distinctive personality. All in all, Herschel is perfect for use as a display font, but will also work greatly wherever a bit of individual approach is required.
Herschel typeface comprises of six weights – Skim, One Percent, Two Percent, Whole, Creamline and Butter, each one of which offers more than 800 glyphs. Extras include 120 stylistic alternates, dingbats and special characters, lining, oldstyle, proportional, and tabular figures, standard and discretionary ligatures, titling/drop capitals with multiple and contextual ligatures, upper and lower case, etc. The language support is quite rich too with more than 200 Latin based languages.
Herschel typeface is a debut on our site for the US type designer Brian Brubaker and his Tried & True Supply Co. type foundry. Brian is a self-taught graphic and type designer. Judging by the love and affection he invested in his first font, we are set for plenty of pleasant surprises by him.
