Milio font is a contemporary font that is designed to respond to any kind of needs especially in the fields of newsprint and magazine publishing. The aim of its creator was to combine form and appearance in such manner as to produce a “friendly” typeface that would save space in small bodies without hindering legibility even under poor printing conditions. The end result is font with solid and sturdy, yet quite humanist look. This is achieved by paying great attention to details such as condensation and especially the contrast between the curved external and squared internal angles.
Milio font comes with none less than 10 weights – Light, Regular, DemiBold, Bold and Heavy with their respective Italics. There is a great choice of OpenType features for expert users – numerals, fractions, automatic contextual alternates, small caps, ligatures, etc. Extensive language support is provided for all languages that use Latin and Cyrillic alphabets.
Milio font is created by the Spanish designer Josep Patau Bellart of the Tipo Pepel type foundry, based in Les Borges Blancos, Spain. The foundry is focused on releasing fonts with very high technical level of realization that can be useful for vast variety of languages. One of them, Cinta, is believed to be the perfect counterpart of the Milio, as it is a type family with similar contrast and proportion.
