Regent Pro is a very interesting new serif typeface that is based on the Baroque style samples of the 1700’s. Baroque itself is one of the most famous artistic styles in history that has left enormous heritage in the fields of architecture, painting, sculpture, music, theatre and literature. It is characterized mainly by the use of exaggerated motion and clear forms with its samples being symbols of exuberance, grandeur and splendor. Regent Pro font family bares all of these characteristics and obtains the same visual effects and expression. Of course, the typeface is adapted for the needs of the modern users by removing some of the typically baroque elements like the unevenness and the exaggerated softness. All in all, Regent Pro is very cool and reliable with very high legibility which makes it suitable for extensive works and longer texts. In terms of the possible applications, the fact that it consists of four weights – Regular, Italic, Bold and Bold Italic, is very favorable for the users, as it greatly increases the possible choices.
Regent is designed by the Czech type designer František Štorm and is published by his Storm type foundry. Founded in 1993, the foundry often pleases us with high quality typefaces which have all it needs to satisfy the ever more pretentious contemporary users. But there is one more very distinctive feature of the foundry’s work – its highly experienced designers use their skills to give a distinctive human touch and appearance to their works, as is the case with Regent font family too. You can take a look at their other projects here: Quercus Serif, Metron, Pepone, Trivia Humanist.
