Kodiak font is a unique display typeface created as a result of integrity of experience and talent. Designed by 40+ year sign painting veteran, Brian Grant, Kodiak unites the style of many other sign painters working thru the years in this direction and showing at the same time its individuality and uniqueness. Digitally refined and artistically retouched by Charles Borges de Oliveira it was ready for publishing as part of Borges’ teamwork tradition – remember one of his latest fonts Aloha Script, designed in co-operation with another star in sign paining – Pierre Tardif.
Popular in broadsides, circus posters, and advertisements at the turn of the 19th century, Kodiak will add old-fashioned sensibility and dramatic flair to any design project preserving the charm and warmth of natural hand lettering without looking too digital, engineered and mechanical. If you use OpenType compatible software, you will be able to use really lots of alternate symbols – close to the number we had in other font by Borges Lettering – the Desire – where customization in every letter was brought to its utter limits. This tradition lives on in Kodiak too where along with different alternates, you will discover amazing swashed alternates that will really add extra charm and originality in your work.
All in all this great vintage typeface will unlock your creativity to design fresh posters, t-shirts, original brand names, strong titles and artistic logos.
Use it with large trapping, visible overprints, harsh shadows and 3D effects for maximum visual impact.
Readability will not be a trouble here regardless the size you pick – use it freely on prints or on screen as web font, eBook font, etc.
