Pobla is a modern serif font family that is distinctive for its high readability. In fact, this typeface is designed with the sole purpose to be used in body text and smaller sizes therefore its legibility must be of the highest standards. While creating Pobla font family the designer Josep Patau faced some really interesting challenges. Firstly, by carefully choosing details like the subtle serifs and distinct ink traps he achieved the high readability required. And then, the font gained one-of-a-kind personality by masterly adding more modern “fractured” forms to classic roman type serif strokes. Thus, the typeface achieved what it was intended for – the perfect answer for the poor conditions of the newspaper printing. However, it is more than suitable for other applications typical for body text – magazines, books, web sites, etc.

As usual with Tipo Pepel fonts Pobla comes with plenty of choices. It is provided in 12 weights – from Light to Heavy with their true Italics. Italics themselves are designed quite skillfully and have pronounced handwritten appearance. Plenty of OpenType features are supplied too, like small caps, ligatures, superiors and inferiors, discretionary ligatures, old and proportional numerals and fractions. On top of that, extensive language support is provided too for the stunning 220 languages.
