Dupla is a contemporary sans serif font family designed by Josep Patau. When describing his typeface the author reminded us the wise words of the famous Swiss designer Adrian Frutiger who said that the minimum skeleton of Latin alphabet letters is like a lock where one should fit all the letters he sees. And that is a skeleton on which many different skins could fit. In this case, Josep Patau has chosen the priceless heritage of the typography of the 19th century – the grotesque typefaces. He was obviously attracted by their humanist look, their generosity and unmatched elegance. And all these were carefully crafted in Dupla font. Like its predecessors it is a true workhorse like typeface that sports great legibility. But, do not be mistaken, it is not your typeface for smaller sizes. On the contrary, it is designed for greater sizes and anything associated with them. In short – if you want to loudly express something, then Dupla is the typeface for you!
Dupla font family comprises of 8 weights – Thin, Light, Book, Regular, Demi Bold, Bold, Heavy and Black. Of course, each one comes with its respective Italics. With this typeface Josep Patau is once again true to himself providing lots of extras like the usual multi language support, ligatures, discretionary ligatures, superiors and inferiors, numerals, fractions and more.
As we said, with this typeface Josep Patau remains true to himself. But this is true not only in terms of the quantity of extras provided, but also for the overall quality he offers in all of his projects, more of which you can see here:
