Petrol Stencil font by Naghi Naghashian is a stencil Sans intended for technical purposes. It’s the first known Arabic stencil typeface worldwide, designed for stamping on transport and other containers – crates, sacks, vehicles, etc.

Petrol Stencil font features a fine balance between calligraphic tradition and the Sans Serif aesthetic common in Latin typography. The typeface offers some standard OpenType options and also language support for Arabic, Persian, and Urdu languages.

Naghi Naghashian is Tehran-born graphic designer and illustrator. He studied illustration and book design at the Hochschule für Gestaltung (HfG), an academy of design, in Offenbach, Germany. Thereafter he was engaged as art director in various advertising agencies in Germany, Switzerland and England. Naghi Naghashian was occupied with theoretical work in the field of colour and research in the passive perception of colour and after image phenomena. He carried out an analysis of the letters of the Arabic alphabet and a definition of their structure, enabling him to design a number of modern types of Arabic script.
